The rolling Tuscan hills over Florence are the next stop as the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup heads to Mugello, home of one of the world's most beautiful circuits.
Mugello Circuit (Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello) is 5.245km in length (3.259m) and has 15 turns and one long straight. Grand Prix motorcycle racing is an annual event here, but the track is also used for Formula One testing. Races have been held on public streets around Mugello since the 1920s, unfortunately falling by the wayside during the wars. In 1955 the Mugello GP was revived once again, and from 1964 to 1969 it existed as a Targa Florio style road race consisting of eight laps of 66.2 km each. Like the proverbial ugly duckling, the Mugello road circuit of the 20s blossomed into a modern, forward-thinking race track where safety, technology and facilities combine. Designed with this in mind the International Mugello Circuit guarantees maximum safety for both the drivers and spectators. Originally designed in the 70s, it was later greatly remodeled by Ferrari, but has always remained one of the most scenic, modern and safe racing facilities in the world.
