About: El Gringo has been a staple on the IBA World Tour now for several years and is always a firm favourite with competitors. The wave itself isn't entirely indifferent to Hawaii's Pipeline with predominant lefts, particularly in larger swells, barrelling along the reef all the wave into a shallow inside section. There are definitely rights to be had as well, and some of the largest ramps known to man. Getting to El Gringo can turn into somewhat of a mission, but then nothing good is ever truly easy. If you are planning on making the trip, why not make it the journey of a life-time and take in nearby Machu Picchu. Located 430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level, it is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru. Mostarchaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas", it is perhaps the most familiar icon of the Inca World.
