Neymar saw off competition from Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney to win the Puskas Award at FIFA's annual awards evening for his sensational solo strike for Santos against Flamengo.
The 19-year-old Brazilian, who has the potential to become one of the best players of his generation, danced past three defenders, completed a one-two with a team-mate before chipping the ball past the Flamengo goalkeeper in a league game last July.
1.3 million votes were cast on fifa.com with Neymar's winning goal (below) announced at FIFA's Ballon d'Or awards evening on Monday.
"I think it’s the best goal I’ve ever scored," said Neymar. "I picked up the ball on the left, went past two opponents and laid the ball off to a team-mate. We played a great one-two and I managed to wriggle clear of two more opponents and put the ball away. It was just about the perfect move."
Argentinian Lionel Messi, meanwhile, whose goal for Barcelona against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League was shortlisted for the Puskas Award, picked up the prestigious Ballon d'Or to become only the fourth player after Marco van Basten, Michel Platini and Johann Cruyff to win a hat-trick of world player of the year awards.
