Freestyle motocross star, Dany Torres, put the injury problems of last year firmly behind him when he claimed the Red Bull X-Fighters World Series title and became a Big Winner of 2011...
The achievements
Injury put a dampener on Dany's 2010 season although he was still able to finish in third place overall, but 2011 was to be the Spaniard's year, as his consistent displays earned him the title of Red Bull X-Fighters World Champion. Wins in Dubai and his home country of Spain combined with high scoring finishes in Italy, Poland and Australia were enough to take the crown from Nate Adams. Dany also took the bronze medal in Los Angeles in the Summer X Games 17.
The big event
Heading into the final event of the season in Sydney, Australia, two-time defending Red Bull X-Fighters champion, Nate Adams, held what looked like a solid lead over Dany, but Adams was unable to make it a hat-trick of wins, as a broken shoulder saw the American earn just five points in Cockatoo Island. Third place was enough for Dany to fulfill his ambition of becoming Red Bull X-Fighters World Series Champion and he took the title by 20 points from Adams, with the injured Andre Villa in overall third place.

Best quote of the year
"It's been dream ever since I started freestyle. Now it's real and I'm very happy. I'm really, really, really happy. It's the first time that I won the championship. I'm very happy and it's so much fun here with this crowd."
