Heavyweight producer Apollo Brown fought a tight battle to beat Frank Dukes and win his ticket to the Red Bull Big Tune final.

With its long and proud history as a capital of hip-hop, the “D” was bound to produce an epic battle as this year’s participants brought a colourful spectrum of sounds that encompassed everything from Motown to Techno. And the 350-strong crowd will have worthy champions at the final in Atlanta in perennial runner-up Dukes and new-comer Brown.

Apollo was the first to pay tribute to Dukes. “It feels so amazing, I mean I can’t believe I won,” said Apollo. “To be up here with Frank Dukes, he’s the man, it was really dope.”

The next stop for Red Bull Big Tune is in New Orleans on October 7 and Las Vegas on October 15 before all local winners will head for the final battle in Atlanta.
