As Scuderia Toro Rosso unveil their new car for the 2010 Formula 1 season, Jaime Alguersuari reveals his desire to get behind the wheel for a drive.

With so many new teams, and a number of new faces – Renault’s Russian rookie Vitaly Petrov is the latest to arrive in the new-look paddock – Alguersuari could be called a veteran by comparison, with eight GPs under his belt, but this will be the first time the Spaniard has tested a new F1 car.

“I do feel I can be more competitive and better prepared. Last year, everything happened so fast and I didn’t know the car, the circuits or the team,” says Alguersuari. “This year, I will get to drive for several days before the first race, while last year I had no testing at all.”

And despite the fact that the opener at Bahrain's Sakhir circuit will be a new track for him, along with many others attended last year by former driver Sébastien Bourdais before his arrival mid-season, Alguersuari acknowledges that the landscape has changed this year.

“For sure, expectations will be higher now, with different goals and objectives,” he adds.

Team-mate Sébastien Buemi put the new Toro Rosso through its paces at the launch in Valencia, Spain, while Alguersuari will have to wait another two days to get his hands on the new machinery.

“It looks nice from the outside, and I know that its insides are also good,” says the 19-year-old of the STR5. “The basis is quite similar to last year’s car.
